The 16th International Heat Pipe conference will take place at the Cité Internationale (Convention Center) http://www.cite-internationale-lyon.fr in Lyon, France on May 21-24, 2012.

The Cité Internationale was opened in 1995, after the design by the famous architect Renzo Piano. All the details concerning the building and facilites can be found on the Cité Internationale Website.

Its location is easily accessible from the city centre by public transportation. The Lyon Convention Center is situated in a unique location, between the Rhône river and the magnificent Parc de la Tête d'Or that was created in 1857 and remodelled during the Belle Epoque (http://www.loisirs-parcdelatetedor.com)

The Convention Center offers high-quality conference technology, air-conditioning and wireless internet connection. Access for disabled people is granted. The quality of these amenities ensures that the Lyon Convention Center reaches the top international standards.

Access

By bus:
Lyon has a sophisticated subway, tram and bus transportation system. The Lyon underground is modern and safe. In the rush hours trains run every 2-5 minutes, and during off-peak hours at least every 10-15 minutes. The railway stations are located downtown and the airport is connected to the city center by a modern tramway (opened in august 2010). Participating to the 16th IHPC will definitely not require renting a car!

The Convention Center is served by a fast trolley bus C1 (with a dedicated lane) that connects with Part-Dieu railway station in 12 minutes. It is also served by bus route C4, which connects with subway lines A and D at stops Foch (A) and Saxe-Gambetta (D) and by bus route C5 which connects with the Presqu'île (old town center) and Bellecour square. The hotel of the conference (Hotel des Congrès) is directly connected by bus routes C2 an 70 (stop "Tonkin") to the Convention Center (stop at "Centre des Congrès-Transbordeur").

By TGV (high speed train): The Cité internationale is 12 minutes from Part-Dieu TGV station and 15 minutes from Perrache station. TGV trains run between Lyon and Paris every hour or every half hour during peak-time. Lyon-Paris (downtown or Paris Charles de Gaulle airport: 2h, Lyon-Marseille: 1h35, Lyon-Geneva (Switzerland): 1h50, Lyon-Brussel (Belgium): 3h50. Online ticket booking is possible on the SNCF website.

By road: Right at the city centre's north-east entrance, next to the motorway network and northern orbital road, Porte de Saint Clair exit, direction Cité Internationale. By way of example, Lyon is 1h30 from Geneva, 3h from Turin, 4h from Paris, 4h30 from Milan, 5h from Barcelona... The GPS reference is : 45°47.0829,4°51.1488. By air: Lyon-Saint-Exupéry is the French airport with the largest number of routes outside Paris, with 27 French towns and cities connected by daily scheduled flights, 43 scheduled international routes, 19 charter routes and 7 cargo routes (winter programme). The Convention Center is 25 minutes from the airport and Lyon-Saint Exupéry multimodal station. It is connected (30 minutes) to the City Center by a modern tramway to Lyon Part-Dieu railway station : http://www.rhonexpress.fr and further information on Lyon airport : http://www.lyonaeroports.com

According to the "tradition" of IHPC, we recommend a single hotel for your accommodation during the 16th IHPC, so that all the participants have the opportunity to meet and discuss during the sessions but also out of the sessions.

Hotel des Congrès is located 10 minutes from Part - Dieu railway station and 15 minutes from Perrache station. The closest public transportations are Tramway T1 ("Le Tonkin" station) and bus lines C2 and 70("Tonkin" station).

The hotel is at a walking distance to the Cité des Congrès through the Parc de la Tête d'Or.
